Katie Pelser, a loving, young mom of three was diagnosed with a very rare form of melanoma in December 2022. Katie has had two surgeries to remove a stage-4-depth tumor and multiple lymph nodes. On the recommendation of specialists at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York and the CU Center for Rare Melanomas in Denver, Katie is participating in a year-long clinical trial of immunotherapy that will give her the best chance of beating this difficult cancer. To participate in the trial, she will have to make several trips to New York where she will receive treatment at the MSK Cancer Center. This unexpected and serious diagnosis has already cost Katie and her family a lot in lost wages, travel expenses, and mounting medical expenses.
