In Loving Memory of Genevieve Gray

Donation protected
Our mother, Genevieve Ann Gray Crawley, passed away on September 17th, 2022 in the morning before the sun rose on the day after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. After countless doctor visits regarding pain in her lower back, it was discovered that she was suffering from the effects of her pancreatic cancer. We thought she could beat it until we were informed that it was spreading, and any treatment from then on would only provide comfort and possibly prolong her life a little.

She began chemotherapy in early July 2022, and it was a battle. The treatments made it extremely difficult for her to keep anything down; our mother was withering before our eyes. After her second chemotherapy, her body had already been through too much. It was difficult to see her trying to fight through it all; late nights and early mornings were spent suffering from the effects of the chemo. Eventually, her body could not keep up, and she went into cardiac arrest in late July. Fortunately, Billy & Chandler, two of her sons, were there and would resuscitate her through their brave efforts with CPR. We were scared we lost her.

She was transported to Flagstaff Medical center, where we learned even more devastating news that her body could no longer handle the therapy, so we would have to stop treatment immediately. This meant that cancer would no longer be paused and would continue to progress and spread. At this point, it was all about making her comfortable. We spent that day saying our good byes and telling our truths, we cried and we laughed, we sang and prayed.

The week before her passing, she knew she was leaving us and told us in more ways than one. There were signs that cancer had spread. She joined the spirit world in the early morning of September 17th, surrounded by loved ones.

She was a smart, tough, strong, and family-oriented mother of four children Billy, Cooder, Chandler and Nika. We are asking for donations in memory of our mother to help us with her memorial services. We are devastated by our loss, but our mom knew her time here was short, so she tried her best to prepare us before she left. We thank everyone who has been with us on this journey; your love and support tremendously help us cope. Your prayers and stories that you've shared with us mean so much. We are so thankful that you were all impacted by mom in some way or another. We thank you for your donations, as they will help support us in laying her to rest.

Mom would have wanted us to celebrate her life instead of mourning her death. That's why we're inviting friends and family who loved mom as much as we did to help us celebrate her life. Her funeral arrangements are still in process, but we are aiming for Tuesday, September 20th, 2022. We will be meeting daily, at her home in Kayenta, in the evening up until the day of the funeral.
