If you’ve met Ryan McDonough, you know how selfless and driven he truly is. Ryan has lived with drive, passion, and always putting others before himself. Now, Ryan needs to be set as a priority. Ryan’s big heart, willpower, and work ethic will help him get through this. I know he has a massive support system - including you, that will do anything possible to get him through this horrible situation thrown their way.
If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or prayers, PLEASE allow Ryan - for the first time in his life - to be selfish and focus on this battle with himself. Do not hesitate to reach out to Susan via text, email, Instagram or Facebook messengers. We need to allow Ryan to fight this battle with everything he has.
Rewind a little about how this came about.
Mid August, Ryan started having low back and abdominal pain. Beginning of September, the lymph in his neck grew and caused questioning. After trying to control the pain and swelling with 0 success, his oldest brother, Brett, put him in connection with an urgent care doctor. After Ryan and Susan spent 8 hours at an urgent care last week consisting of lab work, X-Rays, and CT Scans, they left with the unexpected news that Ryan has cancer.
A couple of days later, Ryan had a biopsy which confirmed it; they set an appointment for an oncologist the following week. Fast forward to yesterday, we met with the doctor, and they had Ryan admitted immediately to the hospital. After a 2-hour MRI last night, they also found cancer in his back, which he will receive radiation to get rid of as quickly as possible. They are doing more tests in the next couple of days to determine where it originated in his colon, GI tract, and Stomach areas before figuring out a game plan of action. His intense cancer treatment will begin once they finish the tests and know exactly where to start.
Susan is taking time off work to support her husband and take care of their kids, along with their families stepping in and helping in any way they can. She also has cancer, surviving incurable, terminal brain cancer and has check-ins every four months for the rest of her life. The family has already gone through 2 sudden extreme brain surgeries AND chemo/radiation.
With every appointment comes a price, with every procedure - a price. A price no one could prepare for. The primary goal of this fund is to lessen the financial burden by giving them safety with these unforeseen expenses.
Another important goal is to allow the McDonough family to focus on family time and normalcy as best they can. Like grabbing dinner at a favorite restaurant, or a visit to the local zoo, even ice cream for Piper or Jack's milestone is something this can assist with. Life is too short so let’s allow them to continue to focus on those precious moments vs. the current situation.
Another way of support can be Venmo.
Venmo: @SusanMac
The McDonough family is beyond thankful for the thoughts, prayers, support, help and assistance they are receiving. Again please get in contact with Susan and not Ryan.
Thank you all.
