Medical cost

We are reaching out to friends and family during this difficult time in Chris and Susie's lives.  Chris has been hospitalized at the University Medical Center since January 11, 2019.  He was in the ICU for about 6 weeks and is now in a private room continuing with his medical care.  Shortness of breath and influenza contributed to pneumonia, causing Chris to be placed on a respirator for many weeks.  At times, things were uncertain because he had more bad days than good.  In addition, Chris was intubated on 2 occasions and has developed speech problems, even though there are no signs of vocal chord paralysis.  As a consequence, he suffered from acute kidney failure, weakness to the right side of his body and respiratory problems.  Chris needs to be on oxygen 24/7 and continues to be bed ridden.   Doctors are suspecting cervical spinal pathology and will be requiring long term rehabilitation services once he is released from the hospital.

We want to help Susie in this time of need, as she is no longer working on her cake business because she is focusing on Chris and his rehabilitation.  This situation has been life changing and has put a strain on their finances.  The darkest time of their lives had been all the weeks that Chris was in the Intensive Care Unit and now that he has improved, it will be the care Chris will need for a very long time, months to years.

Susie also takes care of her brother Ruben, who has Special Needs and we don't want Susie to become more overwhelmed.  Please help us by contributing to help their little family.
