Uterus vs. Me: Help Me Win This Battle!
Donation protected
Hello my amazing friends, family, and kind strangers,
Buckle up, because this is a wild ride through the crazy world of my uterus, which my 90’s loving self decided to call Earl (IYKYK). On 4/25/24, Earl tried to kill me. Yep, you read that right. Earl has been a terrible roommate for 35 years, and it's time to kick him out for good!
Why I Need Your Help:
1. The Battle Begins: On 4/25/24, Earl tried to kill me, so four months just shy of the day, I’m getting my revenge. Earl has to die!
2. The Reality Check: I’ve always had a hostile uterus, but it took leaving Kaiser to finally get an ultrasound showing a minefield of fibroids after spending tens of thousands on fertility care.
3. A Silver Lining: Despite my hostile uterus, the wondrous team at OHSU managed to get me pregnant. Alas, by the time of my son’s birth, two of the fibroids had grown significantly and didn’t reduce post-birth as promised.
4. Neglect and Negligence: I learned after a horrific bleeding episode, every OB I’ve seen since my son’s birth grossly neglected my care. Preventative procedures were never suggested, and birth control was compulsively pushed on me as the only solution for persistent lady pains.
5. A Night of Horror: I bled at an estimated rate of 500ml/hr for 8 hours before a women’s health professional was called in. This pint an hour is ‘estimated’, because nobody bothered to take measurements despite the horror scene every time I moved. Tell me another person bleeding from literally ANYWHERE else, wouldn’t have been immediately attended to? But nope, ‘vaginas are supposed to bleed’, the male attending said as he tried to discharge me before so much as an exam.
6. The Mystery Continues: Thanks to the good fortune of residing in a state which permits the procedure I needed (something illegal in many states despite zero chance of pregnancy), the bleeding was stopped. The cause of the bleeding remains unknown, it could have been bad IUD placement, an angry fibroid, undiagnosed angry endometriosis, etc., but the likelihood of repeat is high, as well as secondary endo related complications. So before Earl can kill me, I’m going to kill him with a hysterectomy. Did you know it’s the only significant size organ removal with outpatient status? Absurd, right?
Specific Goals:
1. Why I Need Assistance: For nearly two years, I’ve not had regular employment. I currently work endless hours in the gig economy and part-time at a pizza house. I won’t be able to work for at least four weeks, more likely six, and possibly eight; this is presuming no complications. It’s also highly recommended I don’t work the week prior due to extent of public exposure in my ‘jobs’. I’ve tapped all resources and have incredible debt.
2. Financial Reality: I average $20/hr before expenses/after tips, so every $20 donated is an hour less on the road. My amazing parents have been housing me, and I’m high balling the estimated need to plan for the worst, hope for the best.
3. Use of Donations: Donations will cover my monthly costs like car payment, insurance, internet, phone, and a personal student loan. This will allow me to recover without the stress of unpaid bills, and help reduce my burden on my family, who have supported me immensely.
