UTampa Hockey Postseason Tournament 2019

We are the University of Tampa Spartans Ice Hockey team. As we approach our first full decade since our inception, our team has had tremendous success. In 2016, we made our first appearance in the ACHA DIII National Tournament (Grand Rapids, MI). In 2017, the program saw our first conference championship by winning the Southern Collegiate Hockey Conference (SCHC) and took another trip to the National Tournament (Columbus, OH). Now, the team is looking to add another title, with a National Championship run this season.
This year, we're even more solid. A strong freshman class coupled with exceptional returning talent positioned us as the #3 ranked team in the South Region of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) DIII, with an overall record of 19-8-2-2. Along with the high ranking came a berth in the ACHA postseason. The team will first make an appearance at the South Regional Tournament in Huntsville, Alabama, and with a strong performance, will look to advance to the 2019 National Tournament. The National Tournament takes place in Frisco, Texas on March 26-30, 2019.
As a team we value family first, followed by education, and then hockey. Considering all of the time spent on hockey during the week for practice, workouts, and games, we're proud to say that our average team GPA is above 3.1 and has been for 12 consecutive semesters.
The budget has been tight for our program this year. Even with every player paying over to $2,000, a few generous donations from UT Student Government, Campus Recreation, and our great sponsors, should the team advance from the Regional Tournament, we are still looking to continue our fundraising efforts, with additional postseason costs expected to potentially exceed $1,500 per player.
The Regional Tournament takes place on March 8-9 in Huntsville, Alabama and is expected to cost over $8,000. In the event where our team advances, we'll leave for Frisco, TX on March 24, and are estimating the trip to cost about $30,000. All money raised here will go towards flights, hotels, and other miscellaneous travel expenses that are needed to accommodate the team & coaching staff. Any funds leftover will be put towards next year's budget.
Donations small & large will help us chip away at the estimated cost. Please note that donations made here are NOT tax-deductible.
