Help us save our dog
Today we are asking for everyone who cares, My 1yr old dog, yorkshire, named Maze got hit by a car, yesterday 6/2/21 at around 630pm when I was about to go to work, my baby sneaked out like she always does as she was an escape artist even when she was younger, she would always sneak out her dog pen by climbing even before she turned 1 yo, she had a surgery last year for her pelvis and was doing better after the surgery, we also reached out last time but wasn’t able to get help so we need to make ends met for her to get her surgery done as we know she loves running and just doing her thing as a dog, the driver saw our dog near the ditch as it was about to cross but then stopped, the car was still 3-4 blocks away from my dog but instead of slowing down or stopping he speed up, Maze got hit by the car, the dark navy SUV that hit her went pass her and was block away from the incident, my husband and I was there the whole time the incident happened, we saw with our own eyes what happened, some of our neighbors witnessed what happened too, my husband tried to get her as fast as he can but then the car was faster, she spinned when she got hit, she even tried to walk back to us even even she was shaking, she got some bruising on her pelvic area when my husband carried her, driver didn’t come out of his car but the lady who was with the guy came out and ask if we’re ok, didn’t give her name, we asked for her number but she gave us a wrong number with and extra number, my other dog was barking at the lady who hit her baby, it was heart breaking as she tried to get her baby to us, we tried calling the number that was given to us but nobody is picking up, we weren’t able to do get much more info about them as we are in a hurry to bring her to the vet, sadly, she broke her legs and her pelvis, and we are in need of $8,000, right away as the vet said either she will be euthanized if we can’t get her surgery done ASAP, we are trying to come up with the money as hard as we can but we are still short, so we are eagerly asking for everyone’s help. My baby is fighting for her life. Please help her, help us, give her and us some hope to keep her, and for her to be able to walk and play again. She will be turning 2 this August. Please help us. We will update you all about her procedure and we will post the receipts to prove how much she needed. We are not here to scam anybody, we are here to extend our little angel’s life and we will provide you proofs of expenses as needed/requested. Thank you for taking your time.
ABOUT MAZE
(Please forgive me as I don't really know how to start this. Writing is my least favorite part because I have to cry my heart out and also my grammar s**** but as long as it is for my Dearest Maze. I'd rather cry while writing this and you can correct me if I am wrong)
Maze and her other siblings were born on August 1, 2019. She's one of the 5 offspring of Castle (Yorkshire Dad) and Seymour (Maltese Mom). We were there when they were all brought to this world. I can still remember how we all pull it off when Seymour was giving her birth to those little angels. Me, my sisters and my eldest sister's husband did everything we could to bring them safe outside of their mom's womb. We decided to keep them all because we know how hard it is to be separated from your family.
Maze is the sweetest, trust me, she knows how to take advantage of her hoomans. You'll never say NO once she gives you the look and lock gazes with her. Man, your heart will melt and it feels like you are under her spell. Then, she will start curling up and showing you her little belly (you know what I mean) Belly rub it is. She'd smother you with too much love, kisses and attention when she gets her treat (EXTRA EXTRA treats) and when she's done, oh boy, she'd find another victim to do the same trick. (She's definitely a pro con artist) Who wouldn't love her, right? She knows every Hoomanbeing's ticklish side. Though Maze has been a very jolly lovely pup, nobody had expected that she's been suffering from a disease called Avascular Necrosis.
She loves to run, climbing and jumping fences until she's worn out. She's extremely active and naughty (super sneaky). Then, last year we noticed she started limping while walking and running but can still smile as if she is not struggling. So, it brought to our attention and took her to vet and after several checkups, they gave us bad news--she was diagnosed with Avascular Necrosis, it is when your bone tissue starts to die due to lack of blood supply. We started a gofundme page for her procedure with a target of $2,000 on September 2020. But, we were unable to get any donations from anyone so we had to shut it down and come up with something else otherwise she won't be able to walk again. We were able to pay her procedure out-of-pocket. She didn't have to do any rehabs after that and was able to walk again.
Then, the most devastating incident happened on June 2, 2021 where she was ran over by an SUV. We brought her immediately to the same clinic where she had her previous procedure done. I was driving the car and every time I look at her, she acts as if nothing happened. She still gave me the look every hoomanbeing would want to see, but I was so worried about her and couldn't give her the belly rub that she needed the most. When we arrived in the clinic, a very nice staff came running towards us and picked her up right away. It was really frustrating and I couldn't hold my tears, I cared less about what people might think about me. I know, I was losing my mind especially when another staff showed up and asking for our consent to CPR. I cried like a baby on my husband's shoulder while freaking out stuttering. The staff who was asking for consent tried to comfort me and told me it was just their protocol during an emergency situation (I couldn't believe I'd hear those words). And, got myself together and tried to focus on what needs to be done while they are assessing her. My sisters came crying and I know I had to be strong because I know they are as much as worried as I am. The same staff who asked me to consent for CPR asked the same exact thing to my sister, she almost lost it--we had the same thought at that moment. My other sister called me and asked to switch with me so she can also see what was going on. I wasn't there when the staffs told my sisters to consider euthanizing her when unable to pay her procedure because it needs to be done ASAP.
At that very moment, I wished I could turn back time because I'd rather take the hit, I'd rather be hurt, I'd rather be in pain than see that sweet little angel suffer. If only I had enough time to reach that car before she does, I'd pick over and over again to be on her situation than witness my little innocent zucchini under his wheel. It was really traumatizing seeing your beloved one being ran over and not hearing a single sorry from that person is heartbreaking. A single sorry is enough even though we were both to blame. He could've at least said sorry to her cos I saw how scared she was. Now, she has to suffer again under the knife and/or her life has been decided when and where it ends. We have high hopes that she can make it because we know how strong she is. We are not going to let anybody tell us when and when is she not going to live, as long as those eyes are telling us not to give up on her, we certainly are not going to. The last time I held her, she showed me how brave she is and did not even give me a single doubt that she is not going to make it. We refused to end her life that way, we refused not to see those little sweaty paws in walking trails during hot summer days and especially when it is winter. While they were planning to cremate her/put her in a box when she's gone, we had better plans. So, we started gofundme again to prove them wrong--prove them she is going to make it. Then, they told us that either we have money or not, she will soon be gone. NO! Not now, not ever unless Maze told us so. It isn't her time because she gave us signs.
We transferred her to another vet clinic where she is going to have her procedure done--where they told us that she's doing great and such a sweet dog. Now, we are asking for anyone who could read this to please share her story. As they have said, sharing is caring so please help us. Any amount is much appreciated--it may be a penny to others but trust me, a penny can save a life.
I've attached her post-op pictures from 2020 and previous procedure discharge instructions. You will also find her discharge instruction from SportsVet and her transfer information. Please feel free to ask us if you have any concern.
Thank you everyone for all of your support!
UPDATE
Hello everyone, I've attached below Maze's picture that was taken by the very nice Vet student. She told us that Maze is currently okay but hasn't been eating so they gave her some medication to stimulate her appetite. And, she was receiving pain medications thru her IV.
