Support for The McDonalds

Michael has been running and working for a family owned liquor store for the last 20 years. Over the course of fourteen months, they were in the process of selling the store to a large corporation. This March, ten days before closing, the buyers pulled out of the deal leaving Michael and other family members in a very hard spot financially. Because of the financial situation, Michael and Idali ended their previous health insurance, hoping to find another that would better meet their financial needs for the time being.

While in this transition (only 8 days after cancelling insurance), Michael was admitted to the hospital for stomach pain, which turned into emergency surgery for a disease called diverticulitis. In the last week of May, he had a second surgery to complete the first. It went very well, but four days after, Michael went to the hospital again for concerns and ended up in a third emergency surgery. Since the surgeries and fall out of the sale of the store, he has been out of work and unable to work, and all three surgeries will not be able to be covered by insurance.

This has obviously put them in an even harder financial situation, which has also put them in a position where they will have to sell their home. Michael has accepted and will be starting a new job in a few months but it will not be enough to cover the large amount of expenses they will have due to these surgeries and medical needs associated. They do not know the exact amount they will owe, as bills will come in over time, but it is expected to be well over $100,000.

Michael, Idali, and Sofia are people we love and care about so much and it’s been so hard to see them go through this. We’d love to try to help lift some of the financial portion of this burden for them, and rally around to support them in love in this odd time.

If you are not able to financially give, please be praying for Michael, Idali, and Sofia; for healing for Michael’s body and peace over his mind, patience and strength for Idali as she cares for him in recovery, for Sofia in the midst of it all, closeness to and comfort in Jesus, and for the Lords provision and will - not just financially but in whatever He is doing, teaching, and working in their lives through all of this.
