Bring Amy Back to the U.S.

Our dear friend and remarkable artist, AM Hoch, was struck by multiple sclerosis three years ago. Until late last year, AM was able to continue her artwork, due in part to the prestigious Pollock-Krasner award for artistic merit she received in 2014. But then in October 2014, another severe attack of MS put her life in a tailspin. Unable to earn an income, she lost her studio this spring and is now in the process of being evicted from her apartment.
AM is currently living in Italy where she relocated ten years ago to pursue her dream of being surrounded by the art that deeply shaped her as an artist. While working numerous freelance jobs in Italy under difficult conditions during the financial crisis, she still managed to maintain her studio and produce an extraordinary body of work.
Now she needs to return to the U.S. where she has a place to live with friends. We want to ask you to help us raise money to return AM Hoch and her work to the United States and her loved ones here! With our love and her fortitude, we believe she will regain her strength and return to working on her latest and most powerful project, “Diary of a Young Boat .”
Throughout her illness, AM has continued to work, write, and share her experience of MS, exploring ways to approach this life-altering neurological illness as a transformative experience that she and others can learn from.
Unfortunately, the worsening economic recession in Italy has adversely affected state health care and directly impacted Amy, who depends on frequent monitoring, testing, and access to new drug treatments to manage her multiple sclerosis—a chronic, usually progressive, presently incurable disease. In order to participate in new research and explore alternative approaches to living with M.S., Amy needs to be able to communicate in her mother tongue with her doctors and fellow M.S. patients. Therefore it is crucial she returns to the United States.
You can follow her journey in the “Updates” section on her website www.amhoch.com.
Please help us bring AM Hoch home so she can resume her work and begin the long process of treatment and healing in the USA. Thank you!
