Hey folks, I just got some bad news.
I fled a physically and emotionally abusive marriage back in December. It's not proper of me to talk about all the details publicly, but it was pretty bad. To get an idea of what that situation was like, look at these two photos:
That's me on the left last year, just as I finally got the courage to escape.
And that's also me on the right, now, a completely different, safer, happier, and loved person.
7 months after, my life is really fantastic. I’ve a new relationship with a man who treats me really well, my health is great, my self-esteem is incredible, and I’m finally feeling more myself than I ever have.
So, the bad news.
I just learned I don’t qualify for financial aid to pay for the lawyer because of my immigrant status. The divorce can only occur when I have a lawyer according to French law.
He already has one, I don't, and I can't afford one.
That means I have to come up with 2200 euro (about 2500 US) to finally put this abusive nightmare behind me.
I really wish I were about to ask you all for money to help with a new book project or something else really awesome. But instead I have to ask you for help for my freedom.
Some Good News:
Fortunately, I found a lawyer who will let me make installment payments for her fees, so I can meet with her as soon as I've raised a portion of the total 2200 euro. That means I don't have to wait for the full amount in order to start the process.
I have supportive family, a supportive lover, and I've received support from so many other people in my life. I'm deeply grateful for all of that, and I'm deeply grateful for your support now.
