‍♀️‍On Wednesday I’m shaving my head.

I started cold capping to try and keep my hair during chemotherapy, but the hair loss has become too much and I’ve decided to take control and shave it myself.

A friend suggested that instead of just quietly doing it, I should set up a GoFundMe page and try to raise some money for Velindre Cancer Centre, where I’m having my treatment and where many friends and family have also been cared for over the years.

Velindre have been incredible throughout my treatment. The care, support and kindness they give to patients and families means more than words can say.

Sadly, at some point in our lives cancer will affect all of us in some way, whether it’s ourselves, a friend or a family member. Because of that, places like Velindre mean so much to so many people.

I was going to shave my hair regardless, but if doing this can help raise even a small amount for such an amazing place, then something positive can come from it.

Donations made to Velindre Cancer Charity are used to support cancer services, research, patient care, and equipment that are not fully funded by the NHS. The charity works alongside Velindre Cancer Centre in Wales and helps provide additional services and improvements for patients and families during cancer treatment.

Money donated helps fund things such as specialist nurses, counselling and emotional support, clinical research trials, new medical equipment, staff training, and improvements to treatment environments. The charity also supports wellbeing services and projects designed to improve patients’ experiences while receiving treatment
