My name is Miles Tuddenham, and I am the owner and director of USUAL BUSINESS, a contemporary art gallery based in Camden, London.
The gallery has been open now since November 2021, however, we (I) have struggled and will continue to do so with the upkeep of the space after having been denied funding from Arts Council England.
At 13:04 today (23/02/22) I received a decision from Arts Council, stating that the project (USUAL BUSINESS gallery, as a whole) will not be funded, despite being a culturally appropriate, original and exciting space of opportunity.
The requested funding in question was an extremely reasonable sum, simply enough to keep the space running with rent and basic supplies, with myself continuing to work unpaid and voluntarily full-time with the assistance of various others.
I aim to do my best to keep USUAL BUSINESS up and running for as long as I can, supporting young artists, mixing local cultures and age groups, and pushing both creative and financial aspects of contemporary art and exhibition work in any way possible.
After such a great and caring amount of support on social media, I was suggested numerous times to create this funding page for the space in an attempt to keep things going until November 2022.
The £7,500 in question would cover the rental of the premises until that time, and allow myself and those involved to continue providing opportunities to young artists in and around London.
Once again, thank you for all of your help so far.
