USPS Letter Carrier Needs Help (Wow! Great Start!)

Hi,

My name is Jeff. I'm a letter carrier at the Chapel Hill, NC Post Office and I'm raising emergency funds for a fellow carrier named Matt who came to work one day a couple of weeks ago and suffered a medical emergency for which he is now in the Intensive Care Unit at a local hospital.

The Postmaster has informed us that Matt is expected to survive but will also be out of work for the next four to six months and is soliciting annual leave donations to help cover his time lost from work. Many employees are donating some days from their own vacation time but it's not going to be enough. Matt and his family are not only facing huge medical expenses but are also facing a significant loss of income for the months of lost time that is not covered by leave. All funds raised will go to Matt and his family to help offset these losses.

Matt has been a mail carrier in Chapel Hill for many years and was one of those who selflessly served the public throughout the pandemic. He is a solid worker and a pleasure to work alongside. I have never asked for help in this way but I implore anyone who reads this to please donate to help Matt and his family in this time of desperate need. Thank you for your generous contribution.

Update (Jul 26, 2023): Matt is out of the ICU but still has a long road ahead of him. He can't return to work for some time so he has no income and is asking for leave donations. His wife is also using up all her leave to help care for him so it's a double whammy on their financial health. Any donation helps at this point.
