Yesterday afternoon on July 21st at 2:40pm two individuals in a Chevrolet Avalanche pulled up next to our house and stole my dads work van minutes before he returned from grocery shopping. Currently my 73 year old father was working on two projects just a few blocks up the street from our home after a 3 month break due to COVID. There are tools and equipment that my dad has collected over 30 years and needs in order to survive, pay rent and make a living.
He has worked for the families of San Bruno for 10+ years surrounding this area and beyond including multiple cities in the Bay Area providing the most quality work in renovating homes and businesses for over 30 years. At this point there is nothing my we can do, his truck was scouted and taken in a matter of seconds. This $10,000 will barely cover enough for his tools let alone his work vehicle which is not covered under the USAA insurance policy because it is used for business, however pennies at this point will help my dad so that he is able to make money again especially during the pandemic.
We have many bills to look after, and while my family is trying to do our best, I am unable to console him because I was tested positive for COVID last week. Hearing my father cry upstairs as I am trying to recover is unbearable. The excitement and motivation he had going back to work when lockdown was lifted was the only thing giving my dad purpose at this time in his life. My dad has done so much for San Bruno and his community, he has very little and has NEVER asked for help, even just a few dollars would mean the world to my family. As I try to get better and support my family emotionally and financially from a distance. I hope we can come together as a community and help this individual become independent again.
