Shane had to have emergency surgery on Monday December 24th for a 9mm kidney stone.
This all started out with a trip to the Er on Thursday, December 19th for extrem abdominal/side/back pain...after CT, blood work he was diagnosis with a 5mm kidney stone, sent home with pain medication, and an Rx to help pass the stone and instructions to drink lots of water...he suffered unbearable pain until Sunday December 21st, a 2nd trip to the Er., 2nd CT, ultrasound and full blood workup again.
He was sent home again with this diagnosis of the stone and a possible bowel blockage,(we knew that wasn't the case because that wasn't even a symptom he had) set home with another Rx and told to ..."wait and see what happened..."
At 2am Monday morning he was in so much pain he couldn't stand up, we again went back to the Er., this time re-scaned, blood work...this diagnosis 9mm kidney stone,(apparently scans were misread or seen in a different view) and a pinched nerve.
Sent home again with yet a different Rx for pain and told to make an appointment with a urologist.
Less then 4hrs at home and he was crying in pain couldn't standup.
This time we made the trip to our normal hospital in Waconia...
Less than 2hrs after being seen by the Er. Dr. she consulted with a radiologist and urologist to confirm that surgery was need, he was admitted Monday afternoon, had surgery Tuesday morning...however the surgeon couldn't removed the stone because it's too deep, so a stent was put in, he's got to have a 2nd surgery next week to "blast"/laser the stone and it will pass through the stent, he will have to go in about in a week after 2nd surgery to get the stent removed.
All this without insurance and no paid time off from work.
The amount of time he'll need to off will depend on his level of pain throughout each phase of this...at this point he has been off work 5 days and for sure going to be off another 2 days...all unpaid).
So the financial burden is huge.
Between paying off the mountain of medical bills and staying on top of our normal household bills it's going to be impossible without asking for the help of friends and family and even strangers.
Any amount would be greatly appreciated.
We're starting with a goal of $10,000.00...this will hopefully cover medical expenses.
We don't qualify for any patient assistance or other financial assistance programs.
