On Saturday, May 2nd the University of South Florida Marine Science Lab (MSL) building experienced serious damage from a fire. MSL is one of the two main buildings of the College of Marine Science that host marine science labs, offices, meeting spaces, and samples. As a result of this incident, staff, students, and faculty are unable to use this building and the assets inside have likely experienced serious damage or will be inaccessible for the foreseeable future. This includes office supplies, instruments, and space to gather for collaborations. Over 100 people are affected by this incident.

In the wake of this event, we are coming together to rebuild and support one another. The funds raised through this campaign will help our student council (marine science advisory committee, MSAC) rent space to gather for collaboration, replace office supplies, and any other support we can provide our staff, students, and faculty.

Support like this lets us know we are not alone. It gives us the tools and hope we need to carry on with our progress as soon as possible, despite the many things that are currently inaccessible or destroyed. These funds will allow us to gather and maintain our sense of community. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to recovery.
