The U.S. Elite International Track and Field, Inc. (U.S. Elite) will host its Sixth Annual Scholarship and Athletic Convention and College Fair in Montego Bay
, Jamaica on October 8, 2016 through its Liaison International Scholastic Program (LISP). U.S. Elite has been privileged to receive the support of international communities and various donors who have contributed to the success of its programs over the years. To carry out the mission of the LISP initiative, we have invited various speakers from different U.S. and Jamaican colleges and organizations to provide students with invaluable information about sports and education and scholarship opportunities.
The purpose of the organization’s Liaison International Scholastic Program (LISP) is to provide high school student-athletes with mentorship, internship opportunities, health and educational resources, and various scholarship opportunities to top international colleges and universities. The program targets students identified as being from low- and moderate-income families and geographies and those considered to be “at-risk” and/or “underserved”.
The purpose of the Convention is to bring together young aspiring athletes to educate them about the importance of balancing athletics and academics, accessing collegiate scholarship opportunities, living a drug free life, and serving as international ambassadors. The goal is expose high school students-athletes who are college-bound to college representatives, educational tools, and resources; provide each student with a LISP mentor who will assist with the collegiate matriculation process; communicate with potential college recruiters on students’ behalf; assist with their transition to college and throughout their collegiate studies and to assist student-athletes in obtaining a debt-free education. The program has been very successful thus far with mentoring students, placing them in college programs through scholarship awards, and achieving 100 percent graduation rate.
The organization’s success rate would not have been possible without the help of our gracious supporters as all services provided to student-athletes are FREE of charge!
