About Us - Cocks Ball is made up of alumni from the University of South Carolina who have managed to stay in touch through their mutual love of Gamecocks athletics! As a group of almost 50 members, we realized that our shared passion for USC and sheer size gave us the perfect opportunity to positively impact our community.
History - Coronavirus shut down the world right before the NCAA tournament began in 2020, so in its place we organized a "Mustache Madness" bracket-style competition on social media to resemble the basketball tournament. After the competition ended and we realized how many participants and voters were involved, we knew we could use this platform to help our community.
2021 Goals - After recognizing the reach that we have via social media, Cocks Ball is turning "Mustache Madness" into a fundraising behemoth to raise money for the Barstool Sports Small Business Fund. We worked through many different options of donation recipients before settling on the Barstool Small Business Fund. The fund has been raising money to support small businesses during the pandemic and we see this is a timely and amazing cause to support. The effects of the pandemic have hurt small businesses all over the nation in a way that no one could have seen coming and this is our chance to help our communities. With this in mind, we have set our fundraising goal at $5,000! Help us to support the small businesses that keep this country going!
The Bracket - Mustache Madness 2021 will be open to anyone who wants to compete. Please send your mustache entry to [email redacted], all entries are due in by the first day of fundraising 3/9. The size of the tournament will be determined by how many mustaches are sent in, the max field will be 64 mustaches. Our Selection Sunday will coincide with the NCAA Tournament Selection Sunday on March 14. More details to come on bracket and voting as we get closer to the fundraising dates.
