USC Students Need Your Support for Film
Donation protected
I am a freshman currently attending the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts! My goal is to raise enough money to fund my music video production for my music video class. This production has given over 30 USC students film experience regardless of their major. The money would help pay for a studio space, the set and food, things that my school does not fund.
The Vision
Off Task is about a corporate worker who (literally) dreams of being a dancer. While struggling to stay on task, we take a look into her dreams to see her love for hip-hop while keeping the corporate aspects of her life. We've all day-dreamed before. This is just one look into someone's story on how she manages a work life balance.
This music video includes hip-hop choreography to Sorry Not Sorry by Veeze and Nissan Altima by Doechii. The costumes are heavily inspired by the corporate wear and streetwear of the 90's, which Doechii has used for her audio visuals for Nissan Altima and her latest album Aligator Bites Never Heal. I appreciate her paying homage to 90's hip-hop/rap which is what inspired me to choreograph to that song.
Why You Should Support
Your contribution would help strengthen the arts community by:
- introducing students of all majors into the dance world. This video features talented dancers - none of which major in dance. This give them more dance opportunities that would not get as a part of their curriculum that is accessible
- shedding light on hip-hop as a dance form. Hip-hop is a fun style of dance with deep roots in African dance. You would be contributing to the exposure and validation of hip-hop as a dance style.
- promoting anti-hustle culture. This music video is about work life balance. we all have our passions outside of work. You would help inspire people to leave room for their leisure time!
How Your Contribution Helps Us
Off Task takes place in an office and in the main character's head. This would require some specific elements to capture it like:
- an office space for the music video start in
- set pieces and ambient lighting to recreate an immersive dream like state
- production essentials like studio and equipment rentals and props to contribute to the authenticity of the world
- providing crew with catering and transportation to support them through long days of filming
Help support a diverse team of hardworking creatives!
