USC, Chapman, and NYU Application Film
Donation protected
Hi! I'm Cally Nguyen and I am in the exciting and grueling process of applying to universities. I will be majoring in film and hope to make it into the programs at USC, Chapman, or NYU. I am particularly invested in getting my Bachelor's in Film and Television Production with a directing emphasis from USC!
The applications require the submission of an original short film, which goes into production in a few weeks! I am funding this from my pocket, which is why I am asking for donations here. Expenses include equipment rentals, lunch for crew, production design elements, and if there is any extra- pay for the crew, who are all generously volunteering their time and skills for this project. Anything at all helps and is appreciated!
"Love Spell Cake" is a short film about an odd, lonely young woman who, in the midst of grieving her late lover, is instantly enamored after a grocery-aisle rendezvous. In a fervid attempt to recruit her new mister she finds a recipe for a Love Spell cake, though a certain ingredient calls for her ultimate decision to either part with her old life irreversibly or stay safe and continue living out her comfortable but lonely days.
I will be so real with everyone. The acceptance rate for USC's School of Cinematic Arts is 3% (or so google has told me). While this short film is being created specifically for applications, I am aware of the great possibility that I will not be accepted to my prospective schools. However, I feel lucky to have the support and means to at least try and I am excited for the growth that comes from doing something scary like putting your work out to be seen. This project is a chance for me to see what I can create and no matter what, it is going to be a lot of fun! Thank you guys for your support xoxo
