USA Ice Climbing - Support Dom's Dreams
Donation protected
Welcome to my fundraiser! I am raising funds for my trip to South Korea to represent the USA in the UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup.
The USA can send up to 6 men and 6 women in each Difficulty (Lead and Speed) to each World Cup event. I am travelling to South Korea, for one of three UIAA Ice Climbing World Cups and then immediately fly back for the Ouray Ice Festival. Athletes on the USA Ice Climbing Team are responsible for all expenses, raising funds from donors and sponsors. Donations of all sizes, big and small, will help with competition fees and travel expenses. Please reach out with any questions. Thank you for all your support!
I first went climbing when I was 12 years old at Planet Rock while visiting my sister at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor for sibling’s weekend. I wouldn't climb again for another 10 years until my friends who worked at Moosejaw invited me to go climbing with them at the climbing gym. Things started to take off when I moved to Colorado in 2013; climbing and snowboarding every other day that winter. One of my friends invited me to Ouray and taught an intro to ice climbing class for all of us and immediately I was hooked. (He still invites friends and colleagues every year).
After a string of injuries, and trouble finding safe ice climbing partners, I took a break for a couple of seasons. Once healed up, I took a bold leap and replied to someone on Facebook who was looking for a partner. I had really bad luck with partners found via FB previously. I was ghosted for a couple of weeks, and then finally Chris replied, who is now a close friend and someone who I consider a great mentor. The Ice Coop is a drytooling / ice climbing gym that opened up in Boulder shortly after. It provides a great training and learning environment for everyone from curious first-timers to world-class athletes. I have competed at the North American Ice Climbing Championships, placing in the top 10 for speed climbing, and twice at the Ouray Ice Festival.
