Megan is almost 9 yrs old. She has a very rare genetic disorder - CDKL5. She has numerous health problems. She has severe epilepsy, scoliosis, hypotonia, visual impairment and is non-verbal.
She has been using a device called a Tobii Eye Gaze. She is learning to play games, music and paint pictures - all by moving her eyes. The device tracks her eye movements, when connected to a laptop/tablet. This is something we never thought that Megan would ever achieve. Her visual impairment is so severe that she is registered blind. We do hope that in time Megan might be able to 'talk' to us using this device. If not, we are over the moon that she can do the activities that she is enjoying so much just now. Due to it only being used for leisure purposes our local Speech and Language Therapy department are not willing to offer any help with funding. We have organised a fundraising night on Friday 12 June, in our home town, but we have also been asked by lots of people if we have a justgiving page. We are trying to raise £5000 to purchase this amazing piece of technology. Please donate however much you can and help us help Megan. Thank you so much for reading Megan's story xx
