Rainhas Churrascaria Employee Fund
Donation protected
As most of you are acutely aware, the coronavirus has devastated the entire New York City landscape in a New York minute. Rainhas Churrascaria went from a booming and thriving restaurant scene to an empty deserted island. With the restaurant limitations in effect, our main dining business has effectively been shut down. We have quickly pivoted to a take-out menu but this hardly provides for all the employees at Rainhas. Reluctantly, we had to lay off 54 out of 57 employees. Rainhas will be paying for one week sick leave for our former full time employees. But this will hardly be enough as it appears this shutdown will be longer.
I understand that we are all going through an extremely stressful period. But here at Rainhas, we talk about the importance of family. We strive to work together to help each other and to serve you our guest. But sometimes, there are situations that spiral out of our control. This is obviously one of those moments.
Rainhas will be back better and stronger when the government finally allows us to re-open. But in the meantime, we want to reach out to all our friends, families and guests that make Rainhas, Rainhas. I want to emphasize that not one of our employees are looking for a handout. All of our former employees want to work again. But the reality of the current situation is there is simply not enough work going on in New York City.
So here we are today in hopes of setting up an employee fund that can possibly bridge the gap so our employees can have the basic necessities to weather this shut down. I know the amount seems like a lot but the calculation was based on a one month further shutdown. The entire funds raised will be used to help our former full time employees. If in the event the shutdown ends early, the remaining funds will be donated to a local charity.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Stay healthy and safe. #SmallBusinessRelief
