US Navy Veteran Terry Driskell

We are fundraising to help cover end-of-life expenses for Terry Driskell, a U.S. Navy veteran. He was 65 years old when he passed suddenly on November 7, 2022.

Terry was a man devoted to serving our country. While in high school, he was part of the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps of the United States Marine Corps (USMC). Following graduation from Fern Creek High School in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1975, Terry enlisted and served our country throughout the late 1970s, the 1980s and beyond. He served aboard revered ships, including the USS Hunley and USS Nimitz. His highest rank achieved was that of Senior Chief in the US Navy. His life embodied service before self, and he emerged from his years of service with physical and emotional scars.

The achievement Terry held most dear, however, was that of "Grandpa T." He adored all of his grandchildren and did what he could to spoil them. Even though PTSD and physical pain influenced his day-to-day life, his eyes would light up with visits and FaceTime calls from the little ones.

Terry battled various health conditions during his lifetime and survived. In the fall of 2022, he began his biggest battle yet when he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. He was determined to win the fight against cancer. After completing the first 2 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy, however, he suffered an acute heart attack. Less than 24 hours later, his body surrendered the fight.

He leaves behind his support system and family: his wife, Diana, brother, Greg, three sisters Karin, Joni, and Shannon, five children, three stepchildren, nieces and nephews and 11 grandchildren.

A service honoring his life will be held at Rosser Funeral Home in Cleburne, Texas, on Monday, November 21, 2022. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am with a celebration of his life to follow at 10:30 am. His wish was to be buried among his military brethren in the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery, and that service will take place at 2:00 pm 11/21/22.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in Terry's honor. Financial contributions that exceed expenses will be donated to The Wounded Warrior Project.
