THE BACKGROUND:
I'm Ashley, the director and producer of this film. I have assembled a truly amazing team to help me make this film. What started as an attempt at a sizzle reel for a pilot I am writing, quickly turned into a feature length documentary that tells the story of a group of students newer to partner dancing at the Los Angeles dance studio Soho Dance LA, prepping for one of North America's biggest ballroom and nightclub competitions, Emerald Ball. For many of the students, it was their first competition. I started to see that this was so much more compelling than just a 5 minute sizzle reel and in a beautiful twist of fate and an unexpected blessing, this "little project" took on a life of it's own and we now have a feature-length film. We've managed to bring world-renowned dancers and champions, some of LA's most amazing Salsa bands, DWTS dancers and many more to this documentary, telling their stories, contributing their gifts and bringing the authentic world of dance to all of you! I couldn't be more grateful to all involved.

THE HELP:
We now need YOUR help to finish this film. We've managed to capture most of the footage but have a few pickups left and now we send it to post. We need money to put towards post-production and finishing this film to ensure it sees the light of day and you all get to see it with us in theatres! Please consider donating or sharing our fundraising campaign with those you know.

THE STORY:
Bailar! The documentary focuses on the world of partner dancing.
Dance brings people together who never would have met otherwise. Dance unifies and equalizes everyone. Dance is family, passion and athleticism. Dance is for EVERYONE! In a world with so much bad news, we're creating a documentary of joy and hope. Help us finish this film!
We follow new students of a local Los Angeles dance studio as they gear up for one of the biggest ballroom and nightclub competitions in North America. We want to shed light on the reality of the partner dance world and tell the harrowing stories of the people who make up this community. Through their training, we learn about these students, people who come from all walks of life, we learn about their challenges on and off the dance floor and how dance has brought them all together. We shed light on the reality of the world and touch on stereotypes of what it takes to dance. It's a story of hope, inspiration and hard work.
