Personal Transparency Alert Part 2:
It all started with a bang. After 20+ years of wondering “What If?”, our home in East Point sold in less than a month, and we were off! Little did we know the difficulties that lie ahead. Our troubles began right away with our 1957 Spartan Villa (our new home) never being delivered. In turn, we’ve had to pay for storage units to hold our belongings ever since. We lived in a Motel 6 for nearly seven weeks while this theft played out in slow motion. Our deposit on this vintage travel trailer ($15,000.00 through eBay) turned out to be a “Ponzi Scheme”. At this point we decided we had to pull out of our dwindling savings account to purchase ANOTHER travel trailer so we could stop paying daily at the local motel…and not be homeless. While it is much smaller we were extremely lucky to find a 1952 Spartan Royal Spartanette travel trailer in Truckee, California. As our first winter in Carson Valley set in I began the repairs needed to keep us afloat. We had no running water, no water heater, no working furnace, and the list goes on and on. Well, with a lot of luck, ingenuity, and a few credit cards, I was able to repair all of this in the middle of a remote and wintery pandemic. It was around this time that a deep and unrelenting depression set in on me. As I’ve shared before, Betty made the lifesaving call and paid for 5 sessions of Intravenous Ketamine Therapy. Back on our collective feet, we decided we’d roll our sleeves up and work as many hours as our jobs would allow. In an attempt to try and balance our debt-to-income ratio. We were hopeful that we could find a house within our price range. Cue both of us being knocked out of work by Covid twice over. As we’re both finally feeling somewhat better we’ve been looking for a more affordable place to park our trailer. Unfortunately, any trailer over 10 years old isn’t accepted in most spots. All of this madness held up until the present. Credit cards maxed out with repairs, few places to park, and zero affordable housing anywhere close to a job with a living wage, have us admitting this great attempt at a new life may be over. Many lessons have been learned in this beautiful and harsh land. And it is time to regroup, reassess, and humbly ask for help. I’ve attached a link to our gofundme. Our goal is lofty. And it’s still only a fraction of what is needed. Thank you for taking a moment to hear our story. We greatly appreciate your consideration.
Much Love❤️
