A Second Chance for Honey — Let’s Help Hailey!

Donation protected
Hi friends — I’m starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my amazing friend Hailey (we used to be roomies back in my Nashville days!), who recently opened her heart and home to 2 stray dogs that showed up right outside of her and her husband Clinton's house in February. Of course they didn't hesitate! Come to find out that one of the dogs, Honey, has a lot of medical conditions and they have been caring for her around the clock and covering all of her medical expenses out of pocket: vet visits, medication, vaccinations, and more. My family and I thought it would be a nice gesture to start this page to help cover some of the costs so they don't have to worry, and so they can focus on helping Honey get better! My sister and I had a chance to meet Honey a few weeks ago in Nash and she is the sweetest pup in the world with so much love to give. If you’re able to donate or share this page, it would make a world of difference. Full story below with more detail :)

The story (in Hailey's words):
Meet our Honey girl. By a true sign of fate, she and her brother Meatball were stray Pitbulls that showed up right outside our house in late February. Certain signs pointed to these poor pups being dumped. After about a month and a half of searching for their owners high and low, we knew they found a home with us if no-one came forward. Not one person reached out.

Shortly after we decided to keep them, Honey started to have major health issues. One night she started to have tremors and moderate seizures that we took her in immediately to the ER Vet for. We have been trying to help her with whatever is going on neurologically ever since. In the past three months, we have been to the vet 7 times, with more visits planned. We have had 5 different doctors from regular and emergency vet offices review her case, and have had a ton of different testing done. She is now on daily seizure medication, a diet and has frequent check ups, but continues to have breakthrough seizures/tremors sporadically.

Last week, after more bloodwork and testing, her liver and protein levels were elevated, and she was diagnosed with a liver infection paired with a UTI. She is currently on antibiotics and will be re-tested in a month to make sure they worked. Then we will reassess her neurological issues!

We are slowly on track to figuring out what is wrong with her, and we will continue to give her the love and care she needs until we’re on the right treatment plan.

The purpose in it all:
While this has been very stressful and financially strenuous, I think it was God’s plan all along. I think He knew that our house was missing something huge since our Luna girl passed away suddenly after her spay surgery last November. We took Luna in off the street in 2024. We were absolutely crushed by her passing away so soon and tragically. I’ve since been diagnosed with PTSD and have extreme anxiety around any of my dog’s health after that night. God putting these two dogs in my life has forced me to face my biggest fears around dog health problems (Honey), and spay/neutering surgery (Meatball is not fixed, and needs to be soon) - two things I was not planning to face so soon after Luna. It has been extremely hard mentally and financially, but I am thankful for the growth I’ve had through it, and for a way through the grieving process of Luna through caring for these dogs. At each visit, I reflect on how thankful I am to be able to bring Honey home with me every time. Something I wasn’t so fortunate to do with Luna.

Luna taught me that you can intend to spend a long time loving something, and not have that plan play out despite the love and effort to do the right thing. She taught me I have to love and appreciate things in the here and now, because tomorrow might not come. So while I don’t know if I’ll have a short or long time with these pups, I plan to shower them in love and care until they’re no longer licking me in the face to wake me up in the morning.
