Hello everyone, my name is Sharon. I am fundraising on here for my sister, Susie, and her family. They were devastated this morning by aftermath of Hurricane Ian. Susie was at home near the Myakka River in Sarasota county with her daughter and 2 grandchildren during the storm when the winds had topped over 125 mph. At the time everyone had made it through the storm including her animals (12 horses, 9 dogs, and 2 cats). However the power had been out as well as all internet access. Due to the flooding and the conditions Susie was able to evacuate her daughter and grandchildren to Orlando Safely. Susie herself remained at her home to stay with the animals as the horses were left with a very small barely flooded are where they were able to get food. At about 1 o’clock this morning of October 1st, I received a call from my sister who had woken up to 6feet of water inside of her home. She was able to get 8 of the 9 dogs and one cat to leave the house and swim outside to be rescued by a helicopter. Unfortunately one dog and one cat would not leave the home and they couldn’t postpone getting her to safety. At this time she could not locate the horses due to the time of night. We recently received news that 11 of the 12 horses have been found. The money we are raising is going to be used for lodging as her home is now completely submerged from the levee breaking not too far from her home. The money is also for the rescue and boarding of the horses as well as veterinary costs associated with the horses. This will also help pay for the boarding and care of the dogs and cat as well as a dog had to be put to sleep after being received at the boarding facility due to unforeseen circumstances. What is remaining will be used to replace what can be such as clothes and food and bedding. The funds will be given directly to my sister Susie by myself. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved in terrible storm that has swept through. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to read her story. Your thoughts and prayers mean absolutely everything to our family. Thank you for your donations to help her get back on her feet after this terrible tragedy.
