Hi everyone,
My name is Jeffrey, though many in the community know me as Jay Phoenix. Through my involvement in the community and the drag world, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with so many incredible people and supporting causes that uplift others. Being part of the Long Beach community has always meant showing up, giving back, and helping create spaces where people feel supported and celebrated. Something that has always guided me in life are the values my parents raised me with. They taught me the importance of hard work, compassion, and never forgetting where you came from. Those lessons have stayed with me and continue to shape how I show up in both my personal life and the community.
Like many people, my path hasn’t been a traditional one. I entered the workforce at a young age and have spent years working in different industries, gaining real-world experience and learning how organizations and people grow together. Whether it’s training, mentoring, or helping others navigate their work environments, I’ve always found fulfillment in supporting others.
Because of that passion, I’ve decided to return to school to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources. My goal is to build a career focused on helping organizations develop their people, support employees, and create workplaces where individuals can grow and thrive. While I’m committed to working hard to achieve this goal, returning to school while continuing to support myself financially will be challenging. At this time, I unfortunately do not qualify for financial aid, which means tuition and school expenses will need to be paid out of pocket. That’s why I’m asking for support from the community that has always meant so much to me.
Through Jay Phoenix and my involvement in the community, I’ve spent years participating in events and spaces that raise funds and awareness for others. Now, I’m hoping my community will help support me as I take this next step toward my education and future.
