Spende geschützt
Blanca Carrillo, family and friends of Uriel E. Macias are establishing a memorial scholarship in honor of Uriel’s commitment for community service-oriented leadership, academic excellence and military service. The Uriel E. Macias Memorial Scholarship will support Azusa youth in their academic pursuits of military leadership service through their school's ROTC student programs.

We kindly ask you to consider a donation towards this memorial scholarship.

The Uriel E. Macias Memorial Scholarship will be available to all graduating Azusa ROTC seniors. The recipients of the scholarship will be selected by a committee comprised of Uriel’s family and loved ones, using academic and extracurricular criteria. Our goal is to provide $1,000 scholarships in the 2022 academic school year with plans to continue the scholarship opportunity in the coming years. All donations will go directly to the scholarship.

ABOUT AZUSA COUNCIL MEMBER, URIEL E. MACIAS

Azusa Council member Uriel E. Macias was s a life-long Azusa resident, who became rooted into the fabric of his community.  He was proud to call himself an American.  He believed in God, our country and most importantly, family. Uriel passed away on August 31, 2021 at the age of 51.

Uriel married the love of his life, Angela and together they started a beautiful family. They had a daughter, Cecilia and a son Andrew. He was blessed to be a stepfather to Angela’s son and daughter, Ethan and Natalie.

It was an honor for Uriel to serve as an elected official in his hometown of Azusa. He was the City’s elected Treasurer, a Personnel Board member, Councilman, Mayor Pro-Tem and belonged to various civic, patriotic, and fraternal organizations.  He honorably and ethically performed his civic, municipal and community duties for two decades. Uriel was devoted to the city that nurtured and raised him.

Uriel was very proud of his military service. He served his country as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy and was called to duty as a combat officer during the Afghanistan war. Uriel was proudly acknowledged by his military, community, and civic networks as an honorable man of impeccable ethical integrity; a “man of his word.”

One of Uriel’s most cherished and proud accomplishments was being a role model and aiding his family his entire life. He was a loved son, brother, uncle, friend, husband, and father.

We truly appreciate your support as we honor Uriel and his legacy as someone who unselfishly lived to serve others and uplifted the lives of the people that knew him.
