Uriah Bernier Benefit Fund
Donation protected
Hello family and friends! Thank you for visiting this GoFundMe set up for a VERY special 7 year old boy who loves all things dinos, storm troopers, and hobbits. As many of you know, Matt and Kayla Bernier have two wonderful children, Uriah and Elle. Beginning three years ago, Uriah's parents began noticing him staring off into space. Shortly after, he was diagnosed with epilepsy. Starting off barely noticeable, the seizures progressed over time, causing frequent sudden falls. After this, Uriah was fitted with special head gear for protection. Since his diagnosis, Uriah's seizures have been a frightening daily occurrence, on many occasions reaching triple digits in a single 24 hour period.
In the last year and a half he has spent time at Mayo Clinic, and just this past month spent a week at the Children's Hospital in St. Paul after a sudden onset of grand mal seizures. This was a significant change. He has now been diagnosed with Lennox Gastaut Syndrome, which is a rare and severe form of epilepsy. The doctors informed Matt and Kayla that all of Uriah's future appointments and care will need to be at the Epilepsy Center in Minneapolis.
It has been a long road figuring out the best form of treatment, being that Lennox Gastaut Syndrome is particularly difficult to treat. This, along with the cost of travel, monthly medications, specific diet restrictions, and missed work have really added up. With the realization that Uriah's medical bills will continue to grow, we would like to help with his current bills now.
In spite of his ongoing health struggles, Uriah has kept his sense of humor and joyful spirit. Uriah is an adventurous boy who, with the support of his parents, family and friends, will grow up to be a healthy and vibrant young man!!!! Please consider giving, and thank you in advance!
