Redwood Gardens is a HUD multifamily housing unit of 169 units in the San Francisco Bay Area for senior and disabled tenants. The Residents' Council of Redwood Garden wants, and needs, to send two representatives to the National Association of HUD Tenants. NAHT is a national orgainization which advocates for the rights of senior and disabled HUD tenants, keeps us aware of legislative process, and links our communication over the country. HUD multifamily housing is now seriously threatened by restraint of funding, corporate control, and disregard of resident consideration. We are undergoing a severe destruction to our quality of life.
Redwood Garden is the only member of NAHT in the Northern California area. While we have a vigorous Residents' Council we need to connect with a National organization and bring strength and communication to the advocacy we are trying to bring to the tenant community. We are applying for contributions to send two people to the annual conference of NAHT in Washington D.C. June 20 - 23. For the conference fees, air fare, hotel, and food requirements we need $3500.
As a community of senior and disabled people, who have only recently been activated, we are unable to raise that amount of money. However if we can get encouragement from GoFundMe and the ammunition from the NAHT Conference to propell our organization our organization should be able to play a significant part in the fight for housing rights as regards the most needy in our country.
