In August 2025, my upper left molar (#16) shattered after being misdiagnosed as a treatable cavity. After breaking it required immediate extraction, and the dental care teams advised me that the tooth's position made it not covered by my insurance-- or any insurance in our area. I was only able to afford the removal procedure thanks to the generous help of a friend. After the removal, I had an appointment with my oral/facial surgeon who confirmed I am an eligible candidate for an implant and its likely that I can avoid an additional procedure in the future by proceeding with the implant.

I was cleared for the implant of a post, which is the first half of the process, in January 2026. The surgeon advised the procedure to begin within a year from the extraction, and the date is rapidly approaching. As more time passes, the risk for an additional procedure being needed, a bone graft, increases, and would increase the cost as well. As recently as this week my care team reached out to me to let me know they are ready to schedule the procedure, but payment plans and care credit extensions are not available to me. I am an artist who lives with disabilities. I am frequently helping my partner, Sella Sparkledogcore vend at events. I am in recovery, and my commission queue is full, I am not able to take on additional work. I have been attempting to save for an implant procedure, while struggling with the cost of living. I need to ask for help in order to have my surgery paid for, the completion of the implant will greatly increase my quality of life, comfort, and eating. I am entering another stage in my life of couch surfing, and already relying as much as I can on the generosity of the folks in my life. I do not have support from my biological family, and have struggled on and off with homelessness for the last 8 years.
