Smokey and Elvis Vet Bill Quail Ridge Fire

On Friday, May 19, 2023 many families lost everything in the Quail Ridge Apartment fire.

Fire Fighters saved several pets from the building and Animal Services Agency responded to help with the care of pets that were rescued

As if losing all their possessions wasn't hard enough, some of their beloved pets are still missing as of today.

Kayla McKays apartment was on the 4th floor and one of several most heavily damaged. Kayla had 2 cats, Smokey and Elvis, that were trapped in the apartment. On Sunday May 21, two days after the fire, one of Kaylas cats Elvis was witnessed desperately jumping from the 4th floor window. Elvis was transported to Pembina vet.

After losing everything in the fire, one family cannot afford the whole bill. I've been asked to turn to our community to see if we can help this family can get the only thing they have left, Elvis, amazingly made it out of this terrible event back to them. He's a fighter clearly after surviving a fire over him, freezing water, w cold nights alone and then jumping down 4 stories and landing on burnt wood. This boy, Elvis, he is a family member and he DESERVES to be with his family that loves him after all they've been through .
