URGENT: Turkey Village Earthquake Relief

Donation protected
UPDATE: Thank you all so much for your support. We were able to raise over $57,000 which is unbelievable. We are currently working with a company to contract the purchasing and delivery of 5 container homes, 5 air conditioner/heater units, and 200 food boxes (each box is able to feed a family for a month). More updates as well as photos and videos of the relief will be shared here and through social media from Miniminuteman. I cannot thank you all enough for your support and help to make a real difference for people in the Ahmet Hoca village ❤️.

This is an urgent request for immediate support and donations for basic resources such as food, winter clothing, and shelter support for villages affected by the recent earthquake in Turkey.

  • What happened-

In the early morning on February 6th, 2023, Turkey was devastated by one of the deadliest earthquakes in the history of the country. Two earthquakes of magnitudes 7.8 and 7.5 hit the southeastern region, destroying many buildings in multiple cities. Much charity work is taking place to rebuild these cities, but villages are currently being left unattended by rescue teams and government help.

Turkey has declared a Level-4 emergency alert which includes a general call for international help.

  •  Ahmet Hoca village

Ahmet Hoca had a population of 200 people and they have found 30 bodies within the past 2 days alone, with the death count raising each hour around the area. Concerns are growing deeper that the weight of the destruction is more serious than we can currently see.

  •  Our plan

We are looking to gather donations specifically for Ahmet Hoca village and Adıyaman center which are currently in the rubble.
These donations will be used for basic resources such as food, shelter, and warm clothing during the cold winter.

Your urgent support and assistance to the victims are vital.
Every single penny counts and all donations will go directly to support the recovery of Ahmet Hoca village and Adıyaman.

Ramazan Aygat, a professor at Harran University, will be leading, organizing, and distributing all resources to the Ahmet Hoca village. Dakota Wint, Milo Rossi, and John Henry Sieber will run and promote the fundraiser.

Ramazan, Dakota, Henry, and Milo have been working together over the last several months to organize a tour of the historical sites of the Sanliurfa region of Turkey. In light of the recent earthquakes, we have shifted our focus to providing relief aid to this region which has seen widespread devastation.

Since Gofundme does not operate in Turkey, Henry, and Milo, based in the United States, will be using the funds raised to directly purchase the provisions and supplies from Turkey to be directly provided and distributed to Ahmet Hoca village and the surrounding areas heavily affected by the disaster.

Among the relief items are:
  • Tents/basic shelter
  • First aid
  • Food/clean water
  • Blankets/clothes
  • Any other provisions the residents need to begin the process of rebuilding
