Hello all! I am helping my friend who is a Black female student at UNC who is chronically ill and had to medically withdraw from the semester. Here is her story:
I was told that the date that I withdrew would not require me to pay any tuition back to the school. Unfortunately, I was told incorrect information by the scholarship office, and the school is forcing me to pay $2,649.58 by May 11th, giving me 11 days to come up with the money. If I am not able to pay, then I won't be able to be re-admitted into school. I have a chronic neck pain and a shoulder injury called bursitis from a previous job. I also have chronic migraines. All of these conditions prevent me from being able to work a steady regular job. I have also been seeking treatment throughout the semester and have had to pay many medical bills. I am funding my own college expenses due to low family income and don't have any family support. I would really appreciate any and all help from the UNC community and alumni!
