Today we received some devastating news about our pup Sage. After multiple visits these last few days to the vet and the animal hospital, our baby was diagnosed with IMHA. IMHA is a serious disease and can be fatal if treatment isn’t started right away. IMHA is a condition where the body’s immune system attacks and removes its own blood cells, and they are not able to regenerate at the rate that they are being destroyed. Sage will have to have blood transfusions along with immune suppressive drugs that will correct the body from destroying and help regenerate new cells.

We have him started on his immune suppressive drugs but are in need of help to have him started with his blood transfusion. I am not one to ask for charity, but we have no other choice. The transfusion costs $2,000 for him to be admitted and monitored for 24 hours to receive his infusion. This is the part that is most critical because of his anemia. After spending all of what we had just trying to get a diagnosis, we are just tapped out. Between multiple blood tests, X-rays, ultrasounds, and vets, it breaks our hearts that we couldn’t just keep him there tonight to receive his transfusion.

We have had a very hard year with loss. Our dog Kailey passed away in April from a battle with bone cancer, and recently, I lost my father to metastatic bone cancer. We are just trying to look for some kind of miracle at this point to save our dear pup Sage. We don’t have it in our hearts to lose another that is so dear to us. Sage is the most loyal and gentle pup you could ever meet. He is an amazing best friend and support dog for our son. He is goofy, rambunctious, and loves to mother our cat. He is the best companion anyone could ask for. He laid with his sister every day until the day came when we had to let her go, and he misses her every single day. It breaks our hearts.
