Trans Unity Coalition has been active for one whole year, what have we accomplished?

Growth:

Our top-down, federated model provides for national + local coalition-building to combat Project 2025 and the modern hate complex. We have founded formally-registered non-profit entities in five states, and held activity and events in a majority of the country. More chapters are on the way, but we cannot do it without your support!

We have held two rallies at the US Capitol and White House, as well as lobbied Congress in the name of trans rights twice. And we are just getting started!

Legislative:

We’ve kicked off formal conversations with 92 elected state and Congressional officials across the country in the name of trans rights. We recognize the importance of keeping our representatives and senators in check and the overall sense of betrayal by some of our lawmakers, but these relationships are key to building protections, educating the public, and normalizing our community in both safe and at-risk states, as well as nationally.

We met with lawmakers to help secure HB 5300 & 5303 in Michigan, adding additional protections to the name change process for the transgender community and survivors of domestic violence, as well as ensuring the X marker on Michiganders’ birth certificates

We met with lawmakers on Ohio’s Budget Bill HB 96 to discuss the LGBTQ+ impact, educated the public on the GOP’s strategy to shamelessly wedge several transphobic provisions at the last-minute, and rallied the community to submit testimony online and in person during multiple senatorial committee hearings

We helped ensure 3 provisions were vetoed out by Gov. DeWine, including one which would force shelters to put at-risk youth back on the streets or lose funding.

Services & Programs:

We kicked off our national relocation assistance program Let Life Live and have assisted multiple trans individuals in fleeing dangerous states.

Our video and writing teams have produced multiple stories covering trans experiences and promoting trans-led journalism, as seen on our blog and YouTube.

Our trans artist network has kicked off collaborate efforts to express our journeys through visual media and drawing.

Our Discord space exceeded 1300 members and remains highly-active for spreading support, resources, events, and more.

Our announcement for Local-Level Chapterization means that soon you can apply to begin your own local chapter of TUC in your community to bring all of our resources, network, and community to you.

We did all this in one year using a full work-from-home model, 100% volunteer team, and under $6,000 in funding. Imagine what we can do going forward as we continue to grow
