Ziggy needs Cystomy surgery to remove stones (struvite) from his bladder and a Perineal Urethrostomy (PU) to remove the shorten and enlarge his urethra to prevent another urinary blockage and save his life. Without this emergency surgery, they expect him to block again within 48 to 72 hours. He appeared to be "blocked" again last night as soon as we got home from the emergency vet hospital where he had just undergone a procedure to unblock his urethra. When a cat's urinary tract is blocked, it's a medical emergency, and there is no time to schedule surgeries and "shop around" for better pricing. After calling back the hospital and getting the $9,000 price tage for the life saving surgery he ultimately needs, I had to make the tough decision to euthanize my buddy Ziggy. But when I went to put him in the cage to take him, he peed! He immediately started running around and rubbing his cheek on everything in site, and rolling over for me to rub his belly! It was a miracle. This gave me the opportunity to call around and get pricing at different veterinary hospitals and find a much lower cost option that I'm praying I can fundraise.
