Urgent Surgery Needed for Gilson’s Recovery

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

We, me and the church community of Tarrafal, Cape Verde, are reaching out with heavy heart and urgent hope on behalf of our dear elder Gilson- a man of deep faith and a loving father and the main provider of his family, whose life has been turned upside down by a tragic accident. He fell from a coconut tree while gathering coconuts to sell and support his family. He sustained severe injuries: four ribs, a leg are broken, some fractures in his pelvis, and, most critically, a displaced spinal cord that puts him at risk of never walking again.

Gilson is the main provider of his house with a wife and two kids - one just 4 yrs old and the other only 3 months. He is currently in Cape Verde awaiting emergency transfer to Dakar where He can receive the urgent treatment, surgery, and rehabilitation he needs to recover. We really hope that with appropriate and immediate care he will have the chance to restore his mobility.

As his church family, we are standing together to raise the funds necessary for his medical evacuation and care - costs that are far beyond what his family alone can afford.
