Help Douglas Heal and Reclaim Their Life

In October 2023, Douglas’s life took a drastic turn when they were hospitalized with a severe skull infection that affected one of their eyes, leaving them temporarily blind on that side. During their hospital stay, they contracted widespread systemic MRSA, which triggered a cascade of debilitating symptoms.

After months of battling infections, in February 2024, Douglas underwent a Kymirsa infusion to treat ABSSSI, MRSA, and other possible soft tissue infections. While the treatment effectively eradicated the infections, it left their body overwhelmed with millions of dead bacteria and severe cellulitis concentrated in their face.

Now, Douglas’s immune system is stuck in a painful and unpredictable loop, attacking areas of their face where dead tissue remains. This causes disfiguring pockets, skin separation, and channels that can reopen or worsen at any time. Each flare-up is painful, debilitating, and carries potentially fatal risks.

After consulting with four doctors, all have recommended the same treatment: a specialized procedure—typically considered a cosmetic surgery—to flush out the remaining tissue, reset their sebaceous systems, and allow their immune system to heal properly. Unfortunately, Douglas’s insurance has made accessing this treatment financially impossible.

The procedure costs between $6,000 and $7,000. After months of medical expenses, Douglas is financially depleted and cannot afford the care they urgently need to survive.
