After multiple abdominal surgeries—including four C-sections and prior hernia repairs—my body has developed significant scar tissue and weakening in my abdominal wall. Recently, I began experiencing worsening symptoms, and a CT scan revealed something serious: I now have a complex abdominal hernia where part of my colon is actually pushing through my abdominal wall and becoming kinked. This is already causing early signs of a partial bowel obstruction, meaning my digestive system is at risk of becoming blocked. A bowel obstruction is not just uncomfortable—it can become life-threatening if it progresses. When the intestines are blocked, food and waste can’t move through the body properly, and in severe cases, the affected portion of the bowel can lose blood flow or become damaged. Because of this, my doctors have recommended surgery. This is not elective or cosmetic—it is medically necessary to prevent a dangerous emergency situation.

I am thankful to have medical coverage offered through my employer, but due to a high insurance deductible, the cost of surgery is overwhelming. I am required to pay a large amount upfront within days of scheduling, with a total estimated cost that is difficult to manage. I have up to three months to have this surgery, but waiting too long increases the risk of complications that could require emergency surgery under much more dangerous conditions. I am doing everything I can to prepare, but I cannot do this alone.
