My dear friend Christina whom I have known since high school is having surgery today and I'm hoping to generate financial support for this procedure.
To know Christina is to love her. A heart of gold. Salt of the Earth. A talented artist. Mother of two amazing young men. Speech therapist. Vedic Astrologer. Bass player and singer extraordinaire of Elephant.
On February 21st, Christina poured some hot soup into a glass bowl and when she carried it into the next room, the bowl exploded in her hands. This is a phenomenon known as "thermal shock." When very hot liquid is poured into glass, the temperature change can cause it to explode. For Christina the incident resulted in deep cuts to the finger, and second degree burns on her stomach and legs. Surgery is needed to reattach the tendons so she can have full mobility, and to reconnect the nerves to prevent a painful nerve condition called neuroma.
If you are able and have a few dollars to spare, please consider donating. Because of a high insurance deductible ($7500), insurance will not cover cost of reconstructive surgery.
Thank you.
