Help Our Family Lay Momma to Rest

7/6/25 Major Update:
With heavy hearts we announce Laura Smith's passing. During her surgery she suffered a massive stroke, with the entire left side of her brain having been impacted, with verbal and motor areas lost. With less than 1% chance of meaningful recovery, even her brain stem being impacted, and being kept alive by life support, we respected her wishes to let her pass. She was surrounded by family and suffered no pain in her passing.
We are incredibly thankful that we were able to visit her and be with her in her final days- something that this fund made possible for us.
We are reopening the fund to help Laura have a funeral. Laura wanted to be buried in the ground, and the process is extremely expensive (+$13K up-front). The Farmer boys had to recently go through this only a few years back when they lost their father, making this even harder mentally and financially. We are stretching everything possible to have this funeral and pursue closure, and all help to make this happen is appreciated. Please also be in prayer, as we are grieving tremendously, and on top, feeling the financial strain of the situation.

Hello! My name is Travis - many of you know that I grew up in small-town Kentucky, ventured off to Florida for my undergraduate degree, and eventually found my stride working in the coffee industry. But what many of you might not know is that I would have never made it where I am without my amazingly strong, resilient, and tough momma.

Recently, my mother, Laura, had lost sight in one of her eyes and began experiencing a host of painful symptoms along with that: headaches, brain fog, exhaustion, etc. After visiting an eye doctor, we realized the issue was much more serious. The MRI revealed a large brain tumor (about the size of a bar of soap) had completely severed one of her optic nerves and is pressing on the other, posing an immediate threat of total blindness and a threat to her life.

She will undergo a craniotomy to surgically remove as much of the tumor as possible on July 1st. My wife and I are reaching out for financial help so we can travel up to see my mom, and to be there for her emotional, spiritual, and physical support.

The money will also be used to supplement my income and my stepdad's income so we can take time off work to care for my mom leading up to and after the surgery. Anything helps and we are so grateful for whatever is given.
