Update: Rosie is recovering wonderfully at home! She is on multiple medications, and we’re doing our best to keep her calm and rested.
Update: Rosie is currently at our regular veterinary office, Apple Grove, where she will be undergoing surgery to clean and repair the incision. This is the best possible care for her, and we’re so grateful they were able to accommodate her today. Additionally, the expected cost has dropped significantly. So, while we are still hoping to raise money to cover the 2 visits, it’s not nearly as much as we had initially anticipated. Please continue to share, and we value your thoughts and prayers for our girl!
Anyone who knows me knows that next to my kids and husband, my pets are the most precious things in my life. So, as much as I hate to ask for help, I need help for Rosie. Rosie is our 10-month-old Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees puppy. She’s the smartest, sweetest puppy, although a bit of a handful, as are all puppies.
This past Monday, I took Rosie in for a routine spay appointment. She has been doing wonderfully recovering. She was prescribed sedatives, which we have been giving her to help keep her calm. Everything was great until this evening, when I noticed her surgical suit was wet. I assumed she had an accident, so I went to remove the suit and discovered her stitches had opened, and there was something coming out of the opening. We rushed her to the emergency vet, where they stabilized her and referred us to a surgeon in Akron. However, that surgery would cost between $6-8k. There’s no way we could ever afford that. J and I both work 40+ hours a week to provide for our blended family, and we’re barely making it. So, they suggested that we take her to our regular vet tomorrow morning, which is what we will be doing. Tonight’s appointment alone has cost us almost $600. I have no idea how much to expect for tomorrow. If you’re able to help us in any way, we would be beyond grateful.
