Urgent surgery for Poppy's knee; therapy for hip dysplasia
Donation protected
I am attempting to raise funds for Poppy's knee surgery.
Background:
Poppy is my sweet, mixed breed, pitbully-type dog. I adopted her 2 years ago. She was found as a stray and spent 3 months "behind bars" before we found each other. She is approximately 7 years old. Poppy is an active, slightly neurotic, but very happy, pup. She loves car rides, exploring new places, attention from all people, and announcing her presence to the neighbor dogs from our upstairs window. She is silly and loving and very photogenic and her most annoying habit is the near-constant demanding of attention, scratches, and petting. I love this quirky little dog and I don't know what I would do without her in my life.
Surgery / Therapy:
This girl has problems with both of her back legs. A few weeks ago, after we noticed that she was limping a little, I took her to my vet. X-rays revealed that she has hip dysplasia in her right hip and bone spurs (CCL rupture) in her left knee. Poppy is on an anti-inflammatory and pain meds. Her knee hurts enough that Poppy is on three legs (using the hip dysplasia leg still) and needs to be carried upstairs.
On Tuesday, September 3rd, we had a consultation with an orthopedic surgeon and scheduled knee surgery for Wednesday, September 18th. The quote I was given included boarding, meds, follow up visit, and other, general recovery costs. After we're done with the surgery, attention will be focused on her hip.
We would be forever grateful for any assistance we can get for her medical costs. Thank you.
