Emergency medical fundraiser for my sister-in-law Kate (36), who was diagnosed with a 7cm brain tumor on April 18, 2026. Doctors suspect glioblastoma. She is currently in Hanoi, Vietnam and requires urgent brain surgery, followed by radiation and 6+ months of chemotherapy at K Hospital.

Kate previously beat breast cancer 3 years ago. She and my brother Boris live in Tokyo, Japan, where their Japanese health insurance will reimburse approximately 70% of the cost — but only AFTER all treatment is paid upfront in Vietnam and the paperwork is submitted in Japan, which takes months.

Funds raised will go directly to covering Kate’s surgery, hospital stay, radiation, chemotherapy, follow-up scans, and related medical expenses while they wait for insurance reimbursement. If insurance ends up reimbursing more than needed, the surplus will be donated to brain cancer research or to other families facing the same situation.
