My name is Jorge, but I made this for my beloved dog, the one I consider my son: my Frenchie Gizmo. What I thought to be a beloved Thanksgiving weekend became mine and Gizmo's worst nightmare. He suddenly developed I.V.D.D. (Intervertebral Disc Disease).

Background on this condition: Intervertebral discs act as spacers and cushions between the bones of the neck and back.

In French bulldogs, the jelly inside part of the disc can come out of the donut at high speed. When this happens, it hits the spinal cord, causing bruising and swelling.

This condition unfortunately happens frequently to many French bulldogs regardless of how much care and safety I can provide to him.

He has lost mobility in his hind legs and can no longer walk on his own.

His main veterinarian has referred him to a neurologist for surgery. He will need spinal surgery to fix the damaged vertebrae in his spine and, most importantly, be able to walk again on his own in the future.

The road to surgery and thereafter is a long one. Between the surgery costs, rehab, physical therapy, and medical supplies (mats, diapers, wheelchair, crate, etc.), it will all add up to a large amount of funds, which will be difficult for me or anyone to cover as an unexpected cost that will last for many months thereafter.

I've always disliked asking for help. As a kid, I've always been taught that I alone must resolve any problem or issue.

BUT this is not about me; it's about someone else who I love and care for with all my heart. Seeing him like this truly breaks my heart beyond words. But I know that through the power of prayer, positivity, and any help you can provide, he will get through this.

Please, any contribution goes a long way to covering all the surgery and recovery costs. The funds would go directly to his surgery total, the rehab/physical therapy thereafter and any supplies or necessities he may need as well. Most importantly, it helps this lovely soul get back to the place he was before: a loving, energetic Frenchie who wants to share his joy of life with the world. I would do anything for this dog.
