On Christmas Day, our family’s world was turned upside down. I had to rush my husband, Adolfo, to the hospital after he began throwing up blood. He has now been hospitalized for three nights, and doctors were forced to perform an emergency endoscopy.

During the procedure, they found many severe ulcers and active internal bleeding. This was caused by the blood thinners he has been taking for a very large blood clot, a condition that is extremely painful and life-threatening.

Because of this emergency, his surgery to remove the blood clot had to be postponed. The doctors have been very clear that this surgery is urgent and necessary to save his life, but we are required to pay $8,000 upfront in order for the surgery to move forward.

Adolfo has missed a significant amount of work due to his condition and hospitalization. He is the sole provider for our family, and this situation has placed an overwhelming financial and emotional burden on us during what should have been a joyful holiday season.
