Assalaam Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatu. Bismillah Al Rahman Al Raheem.
My name is Yaseen Saleh, I am a volunteer at the ICNYC. I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my dear brother Arafat. Arafat has been a hidden pillar of the IC community since he joined last year. He runs security, watching the door at every event so that everyone else can enjoy and engage in the events. Arafat is always taking on the jobs that others don't want to/ so that others don't have to. This is the kind of man who won't hesitate to put his community first.
So today we put out an urgent call. Arafat has never once asked for help. This time however, cancer struck his aunt. And now, as she prepares for surgery, she is in urgent need for financial support.
His aunt was like a second mother to him, so all he wants is to give back, for her and for her 2 kids.
See below for more information from Arafat about his aunt's status. Please help with whatever you can. Every little bit will make a difference. As we prepare for Ramadan, as we approach this blessed day of Jumuah, take this opportunity to support one of our community. May Allah bless you all immensely and accept from you your intention. Allah rewards generosity regardless of how much or how little you have. In fact those who give when they have less will be rewarded that much more.
JazakAllahu Khairun.

Unfortunately exactly after last Eid-Ul-Fitr, as I first started to become a member of this beautiful community, my aunt back in Bangladesh, Rabeya got diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer. She is a single mother of two whose husband passed away in 2018. Ever since, it's been a joined effort from everyone in our family to support her and her children. After my father also passed away in 2022 I naturally took it upon myself to share this responsibility on his behalf. Alhamdulillah her treatment since last April has been going steadily and her health has been stable, but now, in a pivotal stretch of the treatment, the doctors have recommended a surgery to eliminate majority of the problem from it's root cause. They believe the chemo therapy has brought her body to a point where this is a viable option. We need about $3,000 (~500,000 taka in Bangladesh's currency) to fund this operation. While the doctors said this doesn't mean that the threat of cancer will be eliminated completely, it'll "hypothetically nullify the effects of the disease itself". Alhamdulillah half of this is already taken care of, but to get us through the finishing line we need $1,500 more.
